Taking Courses

Everyone on your Confluence site can browse the course library and start learning — no setup, no roles, no separate login.

Finding courses

• Course library — the home page lists every published course, searchable as you type (title, instructor, description), filterable by category and by your favorites, and sortable (newest / oldest / A-Z) in grid or list view.
• Global search — a relevance-ranked results page with level and topic filters.
• Favorites — heart any course card, then use the Favorites filter to see only yours.
• Assigned to you — courses assigned by a manager appear in a pinned section with the assigner and due date, highlighted red when overdue.

Each course has a landing page with a hero description, "What you'll learn", requirements, the curriculum outline, and the instructor's bio.

The player

Uploaded videos and YouTube lectures play in one consistent player, alongside written text lessons presented as reading cards.

• Playback — speed control (0.75x–2x, remembered between sessions), captions, fullscreen, and frame previews when hovering the time bar.
• Keyboard shortcuts — space to play/pause, ←/→ to skip 10 s, Shift+←/→ for speed, ↑/↓ for volume, M mute, F fullscreen, C captions, B to add a note at the current time, I for content info, and ? to see the full list.
• Settings menu — autoplay toggle, download lecture (uploaded videos only), keyboard shortcuts, content information, and report abuse.
• Captions & transcript — captions can be uploaded by the instructor or auto-generated; the interactive transcript tab follows the video and seeks when you click a line.
• Up next — finishing a lecture starts a cancellable 5-second countdown to the next one, next to a playlist sidebar with progress checkmarks.
• Resume anywhere — your position is saved to the second; watching 95% of a lecture marks it complete.

Learning tools

The player has tabs for everything around the video:

• Notes — timestamped rich-text notes; click one to jump back to that moment (press B to capture the current time).
• Bookmarks — one-click timestamps in the sidebar.
• Q&A — ask questions, reply, and upvote per course. The instructor is notified of new questions.
• Reviews — rate a course 1–5 stars with text; mark other reviews helpful.
• Announcements — updates posted by the instructor.
• Resources — downloadable materials per lecture, one file at a time or all as a ZIP.
• AI tutor — chat about the current lecture; answers are grounded in its transcript. See AI features.

Tracking your progress

My Learning shows every course you've started with progress bars, a Resume button, and links to your certificates. Progress is private to your account. Completing courses also earns certificates and badges.
